Prafulla Kr Mahanta terms report of appointing him as Governor of Mizoram a ‘Political Conspiracy’

Nagaon: Former Chief Minister of Assam Prafulla Kr Mahanta on Wednesday expressing his displeasure over the decision of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders to re-form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, had appealed to the AGP leaders to re-think about the decision of forming an alliance with the BJP party.

Mahanta also claimed in a press meet held at Nagaon that such kind of decisions are generally being made at general house meeting however this was not done this time at the party office.

Mahanta claims he is unaware about AGP-BJP alliance, says "I got to know it from the media"

He also admitted that there was no official declaration from the party of forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party; rather he came to know about it from the media today. “I am against this alliance with the BJP and I am firm on my stand,” said Mahanta before the media.

Mahanta also mentioned that he would always stick to the ideologies of the AGP party, since there was no discussions among the party leaders in this matter, I won’t make any further statements.

Also, reports of appointment of the Former Chief Minister of Assam as the new Governor of Mizoram is a political conspiracy, claimed Mahanta further. “Such kind of news gets highlighted in the media during every election, my name has been misused, this report is completely false and baseless,” added Mahanta.

It may be mentioned that there are reports surfacing in the media that AGP leaders including party president Atul Bora, working president Keshab Mahanta and senior leader Phanibhushan Choudhury met the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal today and had withdrawn their resignations.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, after a long meeting in Guwahati, AGP leaders including party president Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta met BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav had announced that both the parties would fight the polls together.
