Prag Cine Award function to be held in Tezpur

Tezpur, April 28: The mega event of the north-eastern region in the cultural field -the Prag Cine Award function - will be held in the culture capital Tezpur with a two-day programme on May 14 and May 15.
Terming Tezpur as the State’s nerve centre for culture and known for specially acclaimed cultural places like Rupkonwar’s practicum, Assam’s first cinema hall Jooki, and the Ban Theatre, the organizers informed that the award was instituted by Prag Television Channel in the year 2003 to recognize and honour the cultural accomplishment of Assamese cinema. “Last year the award function was held in Dibrugarh, the tea city of India wherein the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Bishnu Kharghoria,” said the organizers.
This time the award will cover 17 Assamese films, three films on different languages of Assam and four other films of the north-eastern region.
On the first day of the two-day programme, the technical side will be covered while on the next day remaining parts will be covered. The lifetime achievement award will this time be conferred on Bidya Rao while an award christened as ‘Golden Icon’ will be given to Bollywood actress Dipannita Sharma. Besides, programmes of cinema artiste Joya Shill and noted tabla player Bikram Ghosh and special performance of Zubin Garg, Angaraag Papon Mahanta, Dikshu, Priyanka Bharali, and Babu will also be major attractions of the event.
In this programme some of the Tezpur based artistes will specially be felicitated.
