Pragjyotika Academy changes the scerio of education in Titabor

JORHAT, June 1: The school that first started with 68 students on December 15, 1990 under the guidance of two dymic teachers Achyup Dip Saikia and Apurba Chandra Deka, is today known as Pragjyotika Academy which has of late brought laurels to the small township of Titabor. This year too in the just declared HSLC board examition results, Andita th shared the 4th All Assam position whereas eight others secured rank positions. In the journey of more than 25 years, the school has given Titabor a new recognition with progressive and success stories each time with declaration of results, whether of HSLC or AHSEC.

Pragjotika first started the two-year Higher Secondary science course in the year 2000 and achieved a 100 per cent result from the first batch in 2002. Similarly the Arts course was also started in 2000 and in 2004 maged to produce a topper from the first batch. The first batch of 2000 HSLC brought in a hundred percent result with all securing first division. This year a total of 88 students appeared for the Class X board exams of which one student shared the All Assam 4th position, 44 students got distinction, 22 students got star marks, 20 students got first division and two students got second division.

Talking to The Sentinel, Director, Achyup Dip Saikia said, “Prajyotika, despite being an English medium school, has been actively encouraging its students to develop interest in Assamese culture in all fields including art, music, drama, folk and traditiol music. Our school does not propagate idol worshipping. Instead we celebrate Rabhaa Divas, Silpi Divas and have conferred the ‘Jatiya yak’ title on Srimanta Sankardev, besides celebrating Bihu as Jatiya Utsav. Moreover, we have been organizing book fairs every year and last year books worth Rs 4 lakh were sold among the students. Also we have multi-ethnic representation in our school and we support meritorious students from poor sections of the society.”

“Every year we offer 25 free seats in the first and another 25 seats in the second year course and also provide free books. To enhance learning so that students can score more in the competitive examitions, we have opened two tiol-level residential coaching institutes for JEE mains and advance courses and one for AIPMT under tiol-level instructors and teachers,” added Achyup Dip Saikia.
