Prayers for peace, harmony mark Eid-ul-Fitr celebration

DIGBOI, June 27:  Eid-ul-Fitre was celebrated with gaiety in Digboi on Monday. Large congregations of Eid prayers for world peace and harmony were held centrally here at the Eidgah Kabarsthan Masjid after the maz was conducted by  Habizkari Maula Motiur Rahman of Station Masjid. The event, which was jointly organized by the Kabarsthan Eidgah Hefajat Committee and Eidgah Committee, was widely attended by people from various walks of life, including administrative officials, local businessmen and representatives of various socio-cultural organizations. Meanwhile, the Maula prayed for peace and amity in India and exhorted people to maintain harmony. Wishing the people of the oil city on the occasion, the Maula also reiterated the significance of the holy month of Ramadan. The former president of the Eidgah Committee, Imran Hussain remarked, “The dawn of Eid hopes to soothe the solemn mood around the world, thus establishing global peace and progress.”
