Prem rayan Kakoty: A tribute

It has been very difficult for people nowadays to maintain a cheerful mind because of anxiety and stress. Yet some persons setting aside their persol problems with their strong mental strength are seemed to be leading a cheerful mind wearing a smile in face. My friend Prem rayan Kakoty was also such an individual who was never seen without the very familiar smile even at the moment of distress or crisis. Born to Bhaba Kanta Kakoty and Siteswari Kakoty of Hatimara in Darrang district on February 1, 1960, Prem rayan was popular in the locality for his humours ture. After completion of his secondary education from the Patharighat High school, he completed his graduation from Mangaldai College and for a very short term joined the Assam Police as an Assistant Sub Inspector.

But after a brief stint there, he resigned from it and joined a school in Tangla area as an Assistant Teacher. The teaching profession too failed to satisfy him for which he joined as a Health educator in the District health department in Darrang in 1986 and rendered his sincere service in Kenduguri Mini Primary Health Center till his last. February 14, 1994, he tied the nuptial knot with my neighbor Runumi Saharia and started his journey of life in his newly constructed dream house at Baruapara in Mangaldai town. On the fateful afternoon of February 6 last, he met with a road accident and sustained severe injuries. On the same night he was declared dead in a private hospital in North Guwahati. Anyone who came into close contact with late Kakoty can never forget his simplicity and humorous persolity.

On this auspicious day of Adya Shraddha, I offer my heartfelt tribute in memory of my departed friend Prem rayan and share the unbearable pain and sorrow with his wife Runumi Saharia Kakoty, son Debashish Kakoty and daughter Nilam Nishi Kakoty. I also pray for the eterl peace of the departed soul.
