PREPAK to observe '2nd Indian Colonialism Resist Day'

IMPHAL,April 25 : The proscribed PREPAK is set to mark the "2nd Indian Colonialism Resist Day" tomorrow to remember 'all acts of violence' committed against the  people of Manipur by the 'IOF' under black laws.

PREPAK observes the Indian Colonialism Resist Day against mass killing and violent atrocities committed against the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) by 'IOF' and especially to remember the 'bloody incident' of Patsoi Langjing that occurred on April 26, 1980 wherein CRPF killed five innocent civilians including a woman, said a statement issued by the outfit's assistant secretary, publicity & propaganda, Leibak Ngakpa Luwang on Saturday.

It said the day will be widely observed at the outfit's CHQ, GHQ, THQ, transit camping, training centres and other offices.

The statement urged the people to pitch up their voice and stand firm against the 'Indian colonial force' on this day to avoid recurrence of such scenes of carge in this part of the world in future.

The People's Revolutiory Party of Kangleipak further declared that the 'imperialist Government of India' has enforced the draconian law, Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in Manipur for decades to carry out genocide in order that the liberation movement can be crushed perpetually.

The outfit recounted the Patsoi Langjing incident of April 26, 1980 and Oim Leikai incident of November 21, 1980 in which four civilians were killed by Indian Army personnel, and the Heirangoithong episode of March 14, 1984 during which CRPF shot dead 13 civilians.

It further recalled the killing of 15 innocent villagers by Assam Rifles at Sepati district's Oim village on July 11, 1987, shooting dead of five civilians by Indian Army personnel at Sagolband Tera Keithel  on July 28, 1993 and the four villagers killed by the 31 Assam Rifles at Makui khul of Tamenglong district on July 28, 1994.

On September 25, 1994, the 13th Sikh Light Infantry elimited four persons at Tameglong's Nungkao village and then nine people including a medical student from Aruchal Pradesh were killed by the CRPF in a shooting spree inside the complex of Regiol Medical College (RMC), Lamphel, now Regiol Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), on January 7, 1995, PREPAK recalled.

It said the CRPF shot dead three people and seriously injured nine others on February 19, 1995 at Bashikhong Lamlong and then the 20 Assam Rifles killed three persons in Ukhrul district on May 9, 1995, and then on August 12, 1997, the 7 Assam Rifles killed five people at Tabokpikhong.

On October 15, 1997, nine civilians were shot to death by Indian Army personnel at Nungleiban and 10 were killed on September 23, 2000 at Tonsen Lamkhai, PREPAK said, adding that the CRPF shot dead five persons in Churachandpur district on July 21, 1999.

In 2000, the Indian Army soldiers killed 12 persons at Tamenglong's Tabunglong village and then the 4 Assam Rifles killed 10 persons in a an indiscrimite firing at Malom on November 2, 2000, the outfit said.

It said Thangjam Manorama was arrested by the Assam Rifles on July 12, 2004 and then she was brutally killed after being raped on July 13.
