GAURISAGAR, Dec 31: With a view to popularize the art, cultural and heritage of the enchanting historic riverine tourist spot of Dessangmukh on the outskirts of Sivasagar and to build universal brotherhood, the people of greater Dessangmukh has been organizing Dessang Festival since a decade. The Dessang-Brahmaputra Festival-2017 will be organized by the greater Dessanmukh people in active collaboration with Sivasagar district administration and Mishing Autonomous Council (MAC) at Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika and Gasilpi Bikram Sing Yein Samannoy Kshetra, 11 km away from Sivasagar town, from January 2 to January 5.
According to the schedule, on the first day Paramannonda Chayengia, Speaker, MAC, will iugurate the Kshetra. Thereafter Budhin Deori, Executive Director-cum-Asset Mager, Assam Asset, ONGCL, zira will iugurate the stall to be demonstrated on this occasion. Then Subudh Sonowal, Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar, will iugurate the Dessang-Brahmaputra Festival- 2017. In the function, Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta, Principal, Sibsagar Commerce College, will unveil the souvenir published on the occasion.
On the concluding day, an open session will be held under the chairmanship of Puram Mili, president of the reception committee, Dessang-Brahmaputra Festival- 2017. .Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner rayan Konwer will iugurate it. State Forest and Environment Minister Pramila Rani Brahma will grace the function as chief guest while Dr. Ranuj Pegu, Chief Executive Member, MAC will attend the open session as guest of honour. Besides, MP, Kamakhya Prasad Tassa, Sivasagar MLA Prab Gogoi, zira MLA Debabrata Saikia and Ranjan Doley, Executive Member, Handloom and Textile department, MAC, will attend the function as a distinguished guests. In the evening, Muni Panging memorial cultural night will be held. Ashwani Doley, ADC, Sivasagar will iugurate it.
