Preparations afoot for golden jubilee celebration of Amguri College

GAURISAGAR, Nov 24: Amguri College in Sivasagar district has completed glorious 50 years of its existence. The college will organize a year-long golden jubilee function to recollect its 50-year journey. The closing function of golden jubilee will be a three-day long programme from December 10 to December 12. The first day’s  programmes are flag hoisting, lighting of lamp, plantation sapling, shraddhanjali function, am prasanga, gate iuguration, opening the door of  book fair and exhibition, alumni meet  and cultural night.

 On the second day a symposium on the topic ‘The role of students, guardians and teachers in determition of educatiol development of present changeable society’ will be held.  Noted educationist Dr Jyost Kumari Vishal Raut, Dr Bhaben Tanti, Dr Jogen Chandra Kalita and Dr. Jyoti Prasad Saikia will grace the symposium as appointed speakers.

 On the concluding day, an open session will be held under the chairmanship of Prodip Hazarika, MLA of Amguri and president of the reception committee, golden jubilee celebration. The meeting will  be iugurated by Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University. Chief Minister Sarbanonda Sonowal will grace the open session as a chief guest. Besides, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, State Agriculture Minister Atul Borah, State Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta, Babulal Sarma, Director of Higher Education, Assam, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner rayan Konwer and other dignitaries will grace the occasion as distinguished guests. At night the cultural function will  be iugurated by noted artiste and lyricist Mohendra Hazarika.
