Preparations afoot for mami Barak

Silchar Nov 13: Arrangements and preparations are on full swing for the 3 day ‘mami Barak’ which will begin from November 18.  All sorts of necessary arrangements have been made and no stone has been left unturned. Both Anda Prakash Tiwari, maging director, ASTC, and Dr S Lakshman, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, briefed about the whole traffic plan of the main event through a diagram at a press-briefing in the conference hall of Circuit House here on Monday. They elaborated the whole diagram and threw light on all the important aspects of mami Barak. DC Cachar explained the entry, exits, important laces, corners, spots and zones of the festival.
 “We are expecting a host of dignitaries and so arrangements have to be taken to next level. Various cultural events have been planned which comprise patriotic songs, shows by armed forces. Art, craft, culture and tradition of Barak Valley will be showcased in mami Barak, the festival which has taken the state by storm,” sad DC Cachar.
Rakesh Roushan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, gave a brief outline of the traffic plan of the whole town during the 3 days of the festival. “It is important for both vehicle and road users to know about the traffic plan which has been specially chalked out for mami Barak. We have to control the flow of traffic. No one will face any problem. To ease out traffic congestion, 5 points of the town, Cachar College point, Anpur Ghat point, Town Club point, Tennis Club point and Devdoot point, have been marked as ‘No Entry’ points.”
