Preparations for I-Day in full swing in North Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, Aug 6: Independence Day preparation in North Lakhimpur is going on in full swing in the district’s schools and educatiol institutions. The tiny tots are thrilled about getting a day off from school, while the seniors are labouring hard doing march past for the celebration of 70 years of independence. The security has been being tightened by the district administration and every vehicle is being checked throughly.

Sanskriti Boruah, a student of Class X said, “The school has increased the march past practice sessions since the last two days as the tiol festival is approaching. Many are participating for the patriotic dance competition and staying back after school.”

“This time the Independence Day will be celebrated for three days in North Lakhimpur. So the district administration has tightened security and every vehicle is being checked. The administration has asked the public to be aware of any suspicious activity going around and they must inform the police immediately. The field where Independence Day will be celebrated is being properly checked with the help of sniffer dog to detect,” a police official said.

“All the citizens should come out to celebrate the day of India’s freedom. The past has long gone and the environment has completely changed. There is no threat to life like what had happened in in Dhemaji. The government has been taking proper measures to prevent and avoid such situations,” a senior citizen and social worker said.
