Preparations on for Baska Raax festival at Debachara

lbari, Nov 22: Brisk preparations are on at Baska for the Raax festival at Debachara –Thanguri from November 25 to November 29 under the aegis of the Raax Mahotsav celebration committee.

The Baska Anchalik RaaX festival will be celebrated in a befitting manner to pay obeisance to Lord Krish and his manifold and meaningful incartions. A celebration committee with Chakya Bhatta as president and Madhav Rava as general secretary was formed with the inclusion of other office bearers and members for smooth magement of the Raax Utsav.

The Raax Mahotsav was the outcome of progressive thought of some dedicated social activists of greater Baksa area and the celebration of Raax festival has reached the present stage crossing many hurdles during the last 67 years.

The programmes of the Raax festival include cultural procession, opening of the main gate of the Raax festival, flag-hosting, open meeting, religious discussion, theatre, gara am, Ojapali, Kherai Kristi pradarsan, dhulia, among others. A large number of idols displaying different stalls were decorated to attract the visitors.

Ramesh Chandra Das, the chairman of Sarania Kachari Development Council will open the Raax Mahotsav festival at 9-30 a.m on November 25 in the Raax Utsav premises.  Maneswar Brahma, MLA of the Barama constituency, va Kumar Sarania, MP of 5 No Kokrajhar Lok Sabha cnstituency, Phalindra Basumatary, MCLA of 25 NO Baganpara constituency will grace the occasion in the open meeting. The meeting will be presided over by Chakya Bhatta, president of the celebration committee.
