Itagar, Jan 7: Preparations have begun for the first edition of the Kameng River Festival (January 21-23) as the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) today conducted a mass clean drive while commemorating the 54th birth anniversary of Nicham Som, one of its founder member.
Cleanliness drive along the stretch between Nicham Som Bridge and Tari Bridge at New Seppa was conducted by EKSWCO volunteers and Women Welfare Organization, Mothers Group assisted by the departments like WRD, PWD, and RWD.
EKSWCO is on war-footing to sensitize people of the district on sanitation and cleanliness. A series of sensitization programmes are being carried out by EKSWCO ahead of the fest.
Earlier, while paying floral tributes to Nicham Som at Nyedar mlo Seppa, EKSWCO chairman Khya Safar Pao recalled his contributions and appealed to the people to follow the path shown by Som.
Som was the first circle officer from the district and is considered an architect of social and cultural growth of East Kameng district.
