SIVASAGAR, April 2: Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Pallav Gopal Jha visited historic Rang Ghar and the nearby areas to seek cooperation of the local people in preservation of the tiol monument. He also underscored the need for cleaning the historic Mesijan running behind the Rang Ghar, which was dug during the Ahom era. The ditch is important as it drains out the rain water from the vicinity of the historic sports pavilion built during Ahom king Pramatta Sinha. Water-logging of the drains around Rang Ghar has threatened the monument. The local people have assured the Deputy Commissioner of their full cooperation.
