President of Lakhimpur Congress arrested: Released on bail

Using minor in protest

Lakhimpur, June 9: Regarding the case filed at North Lakhimpur Police Station in connection with the of using minor girl in protest against the Union and State BJP governments on June 6, the president of Lakhimpur District Congress Committee, Joy Prakash Das was arrested on Saturday. As per summon served by police, Das arrived at North Lakhimpur PS at 1.30pm on the day extending his co-operation. The police interrogated and arrested him over the issue. Later, he was released on personal bail. He was accompanied to the police station by more than fifty Congress activists, including senior Congress leaders of the district.

It is worth mentioning that use of a minor girl as symbolic protest against the rise in fuel prices and other essential commodities was alleged against LDCC during the 'Biswashghatokota Diwas observed in Lakhimpur as a part of statewide protest programme initiated by the Pradesh Congress. The incident created state wide reaction and

a case, Vide No. 610/18 under sections 74 and 75 of Juvenile Justice Act(Care and Protection of Children Right, 2000), was registered at north Lakhimpur PS against the LDCC president and Jitu Borah, and the mother of the child as per the direction of Child Protection Commission.

However, the LDCC president became vocal again against Narendra Modi and State BJP Government for their betrayal. "I have become the victim of a political conspiracy. No conspiracy of BJP can stop me and the protesting voice of Congress. I am ready to go to even jail in the greater interest of the common people opposing the maladministration of the Union and State Government", he stated in front of media.
