Joysagar, June 25: The President of India will felicitate a veteran freedom fighter of Assam during the Independence Day celebration in New Delhi. This was revealed in a government letter served from Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi to the Deputy Commissioner of Charaidew district, Bibekanda Phukan. Eminent social worker and freedom fighter of Bahbari village under Charaidew district, Matram Hatimuria took part in India’s freedom struggle in 1942 responding to the call made by Mahatma Gandhi and he was imprisoned by the British for his involvement of the freedom struggle. Matram Hatimuria was born on March 19, 1917.
