Press club boycotts youth activist

FROM A CORRESPONDENT

LAKHIMPUR, March 8: North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) has decided to boycott a youth activist of Lakhimpur due to his derogatory comment against jourlists on Facebook on Tuesday. He is none other than Ajit Burhagohain who is involved in social activities as the president-in-charge of the Lakhimpur district unit of Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Asom (TAYPA). On that day, the youth activist uploaded a post on his Facebook account stating that he had proof against a jourlist of electronic media who was allegedly involved in a deal of more than Rs 1 lakh in order to hide the appointment scam in the State Health Department. Reacting to the post, NLPC challenged him and asked to submit the proof either in NLPC or in the judicial court within a period of 24 hours. But he could not do so and later deleted the post from his account. In an emergency meeting of NLPC was held on Wednesday to discuss the matter, it was concluded that the post was false and published with vested interest. So, NLPC decided to boycott him until he gives a public apology.
