Pressure mounts over insurgent groups in Garo Hills

SHILLONG, March 29: Pressure is continuously mounting over insurgent groups in Garo Hills, after the relentless operation against them by the Security Forces, has yet again bore fruit as another hardcore cadre of ASAK, on Wednesday surrendered and decided to join the mainstream. 
The trained cadre of ASAK identified as Komal Ch Marak surrendered before BSF in presence of Brig. (Retd) U.P. S. Pathania, DIG, BSF, Sector Tura on Wednesday afternoon without arms.
The surrendered cadre in his confession said that he had met Reading T. Sangma, former C-In-C of ASAK in the year 2013, who motivated him to join ASAK.
It may be mentioned that Marak also underwent training Bangladesh in the year 2013.
During the training, he learnt handling of various weapons like Carbine, AK Series and Pistol.
Marak further revealed that he received arms consignment, accessories and camouflaged dress from Rajiv and Sanjay Sangma at Mymensingh, (Bangladesh) and delivered the consignments to ASAK group at Kondok reserve forest since his joining the outfit.
He also guided and assisted ASAK cadres for infiltration and ex-filtration into Bangladesh at many occasions. Komal Ch Marak has been closely associated with various notorious, trans-border crimils  like Sanjay Sangma, Rupon Marak, Nelson D. Sangma, Bheas Ch Sangma, Nirmal R. Marak, Resel Miya and Santo Rema. 
They were involved in various trans-border crimes like kidpping of businessmen from Mankachar, Coal owner/Coal drivers and various passengers playing between Baghmara to Dalu on NH-51.
A surrender ceremony was organized at Dobasipara, Tura. BSF has been putting sincere efforts to bring the misguided youth of Garo Hills to the mainstream. His family members also played important role to bring him back to mainstream.
