SHILLONG, Dec 7: Former Cabinet Minister and three times Congress MLA, Prestone Tynsong today rubbished Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s allegation saying: “The spurious allegations level on us by the Chief Minister is unbecoming.” On Wednesday, Chief Minister Sangma had questioned Tynsong and another resigned minister Comingone Ymbon on their frequent visits to Kolkata.

However, Prestone Tynsong shot back on Thursday during an interview with The Sentinel by dwelling on how the Chief Minister made many escapades without the knowledge of his own Cabinet colleagues. “Those political statements are spurious and vindictive in ture,” stated the former Cabinet Minister who felt that before casting aspersion on others Mukul Sangma should first have a look at himself on the mirror. “He knows about our trips to Kolkata but he never lets us know about his trips abroad for the past many years,” stated Tynsong in a subtle sarcastic mode, during which he and other Cabinet colleagues had to handle certain public issues. “I remember right from 2010-11 and the couple of years thereafter that he attended offices barely a week in one month’s time and he has the audacity to question our attendance in the state secretariat and point a finger at our performance,” stated Tynsong while terming such allegations ahead of the elections as the ‘below the belt’ campaign.

Prestone Tynsong is set to leave the Congress and Join the NPP. He has categorically made it clear that five other sitting Congress legislators will leave the Congress not because of the party but due to the party leadership in the State.

Asked further on the statement of the Chief Minister that somebody should filed an RTI to know about his frequent visits to Kolkata in the past, Tynsong said, “Similar RTI should also be filed against the Chief Minister travelling in and outside the country.”

He added that though political mudslinging is a part of electoral politics yet feel that it should not below the belt.
