Price of onion regulated

Haflong, Dec 20: The Government of Assam has issued an order stating that the term ‘onion’ has been included in Schedule II of the Assam Trade Articles (Licensing & Control) Order, 1982 under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) with effect from December 31.

 With this order into force, every dealer of onion will furnish any particulars or information relating to onion under the provision of Clause 24 of the Assam Trade Articles (Licensing and Control) order, 1982 when required by the general or special direction of the State Government or licensing authority.

 The order states that the government or the deputy commissioner or the licensing authority may issue direction to any dealer of the onion with regard to purchase, sale, disposal, storage or exhibition of the list of stock and price under the provision of the clause. This will, however, not affect the transport, distribution or disposal of the onion to places outside the State nor will it be applicable to the important commodity.
