Price rise dampens Bihu spirit in Demow

DEMOW, Jan 12: The soaring prices have embittered the real taste of Magh Bihu. Due to sudden price rise of the essential commodities and Bihu delicacies, it has become difficult for the common people to buy the commodities in the shops and markets. “The spiralling rise in the prices of essential commodities, however, did dampen the festivities for a sizeable segment of the populace belonging to the lower middle class which is finding it increasingly difficult to spare enough for such occasions. It has been very difficult for me to celebrate Bihu this time,” said Nilakshi Dutta Borah, a resident of Nitaipukhuri.
