Price Rise Issue Discussed in Assam Assembly

GUWAHATI: The present retail prices of essential commodities like rice, sugar, mustard oil, and potato have risen several folds compared to 2015-16. This was revealed in the Assembly on Friday. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury said that the prices of rice (super) increased by 20%; rice (fine)—in between 8 to 11%; sugar – in between 5 to 46 %; mustard oil – in between 7 to 12%; and potato – 33 to 100%. However, the prices of pulses like urad dal, arahar dal, masur dal, and moong dal decreased during the period.
