Prime accused confesses crime




GUWAHATI, July 12: Assam Police with the help of Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday arrested one Bikash Das, the prime accused in rape and subsequent murder of two women in running trains during the last 48 hours.

Das who was initially picked up from Tinsukia railway station and later arrested on Thursday evening, has already confessed his crime before the police. Police said Das was planning to commit a similar crime on Thursday evening. Another accused involved in the brutal incident is absconding. Police has recovered stolen things including mobile phones of the deceased from Das.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain while expressing his disgust over the incident, said the railway will install CCTVs in all trains including premium trains such Rajdhani Express to strictly monitor movements of criminals inside trains and catch them. He said CCTVs will cover all railway stations also.

Gohain said the Railways will enhance deployment of GRP and Railway Protection Force in trains and stations.
