Prime accused in gang rape case apprehended

GAON (HAIBORGAON), March 26: Amidst State-wide protests against the killing of a minor girl after gang rape at Dhaniabheti village under Batadrava police station, gaon Police led by gaon traffic in-charge Dhiren Kakati and Sadar Police on Sunday night around 9.30pm apprehended the prime accused of the incident, Jakir Hussain from gaon Itapara area. He was absconding after the gruesome incident.
In connection with the apprehension of the Jakir Hussain, gaon Superintendent of Police and ADGP Harmeet Sing immediately on Monday morning addressed a press conference at the conference hall of gaon Police reserve. ADGP Sing and SP gaon intimated that for the greater interest of smooth and speedy investigation of the entire case, one special investigation team had been formed and that the team would be headed by ASP (HQ). Both officials appealed to all individuals to submit evidence in connection with the incident.
 The minor girl was first gang raped and subsequently set on fire. The girl later died. Following that gruesome incident, various organizations of the State staged protests and demanded capital punishment for the culprits.
