Prime Accused in Guwahati Grenade Blast Incident Bijoy Asom sent to 14 days Police Remand

Guwahati: Prime Accused in the Guwahati Grenade Blast incident Bijoy Asom was brought to Guwahati today and was produced at CJM Court.

Hardcore ULFA-I cadre Bijoy Asom has been sent to 14 days police remand. He will be produced before the court again on June 5, 2019.

As per the latest report, Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar informed the police have been interrogating Bijay Asom.

“We came to know that Bijoy Asom hurled the grenade near Guwahati Central Mall on last Wednesday. He was joined by Chinmoy Lahokar who drove him upto Ganeshguri where he was picked up by Janabi Saikia and headed towards her rented house at Panjabari,” said Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar.

It is to be noted that Bijoy Asom joined the outlawed faction ULFA-I in the year 2013 and got armed training from the Myanmar base camp of the militant organization.

He along with self-styled ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru and actress Janabi Saikia executed the plan of a grenade blast in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, Assam police are kept on high alert as on May 23^rd i.e ‘Counting Day’.
