Principals yet to be appointed in four HS schools in Tinsukia

From our Correspondent

TINSUKIA, May 10: The Director of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam appointed regular Principals to Higher Secondary schools of the State, replacing principals-in-charge recently.

In Tinsukia district, out of 17 provincialized higher secondary schools, the 13 selected candidates had already joined the respective institutions while the DSE kept its decision in abeyance against four schools without citing any reason, leaving the prospective candidates in uncertainty. Besides, an ambiguous clause in the appointment letter referring a sub-judicial case in Gauhati High Court vide WP(C) No 3781/2016 created confusion and apprehension among the appointed candidates. The petition was filed by All Assam Provincialized HS School, I/C Principal Association on May 21, 2016.

In Tinsukia district, the schools which are yet to get their Principals are- Seiram HS School, Sarbojonin Valika Vidyalaya HS School, Bengali Girls’ HS School, all from Tinsukia town and Vivekanda Vidyalaya Digboi.

According to sources, the government abstained from issuing appointment letters on receipt of some complaints against the candidature of some selected candidates which may be politically motivated or of vested interest. Some teachers of these schools desire that the DSE should examine the merit of the complaints in an unbiased manner, so that the schools do not suffer in future.
