Private institution in Kokrajhar uses Ashok Chakra, DC orders probe

Kokrajhar, May 21: The Ashok Chakra, the symbol used in government office and institutions, has been used by a private education institution in the heart of Kokrajhar town to attract students. The people of the town have raised objection of use of the symbol by a private computer institution.

A private institution med Bright Carrier Foundation (BCF) College, owned by Abdul Khaleque Ahmad, situated at Brahma Complex; RN Brahma Road in Kokrajhar town has been using the symbol of Ashok Chakra. The college has a franchise under AMTRON and offers short and long-term computer courses to the students in the district.

NU Ali, complaint, said that BCF College had been using the symbol of Ashok Chakra in his institution by violating government rule and prohibition. He alleged that the owner of the college was using the logo to attract the students. He also mentioned that a complaint had been made before the Deputy Commissioner against the owner of the institution. On the other hand, MP Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, said that a direction had been given for inquiry into the matter. A strong initiative would be taken against the owner of the institution and he would be given punishment as per law for misuse of Ashok Chakra symbol, he said. He also said that no private institution could use the government logo and it was punishable.
