Private practice: Dibrugarh physicians under scanner

DIBRUGARH, August 3: A section of doctors of Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMC&H) are under scanner of District administration’s investigating teams for their alleged engagement in the local nursing homes scattered in the town by ignoring their duty as government officer. The District administration has constituted an investigation team which made a sudden search operation in each and every nursing home and seized all documents of surgery units of the private nursing home, in an aim to trace out the doctors of AMC involved in illicit earning at Nursing home despite enjoying the Non-practicing allowance of the state government. Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, in order to punish those government doctors who are used to violate the government service rule blatantly by engaging themselves in private practices in the nursing homes, had asked the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate steps and send a report to the Health department. According to sources, D C MS Manivann is determined to end such practice and had cautioned all those erring doctors of AMC who are practicing at various nursing homes for money neglecting their prime duty, with deterrent legal measures.
