GUWAHATI, Feb 14: Can Jahnu Barua’s Bhoga Khirikee (Broken Window) open a window of opportunity for Assamese films? Actor and State Tourism Brand Ambassador Priyanka Chopra, however, gets her hopes up about taking the film to the audience worldwide.

Priyanka Chopra is one of the producers of Bhoga Khirikee along with Shahab Alam. In her official statement regarding her persol involvement in the promotion and distribution of the film, Priyanka is elated to witness the love and support which the film received during a recent press conference in Guwahati.

The producers have decided that they will spare no effort or cost to take the film to as wide an audience as possible, both tiolly and intertiolly. The option of simultaneously releasing Bhoga Khirikee dubbed in Hindi for the tiol audience is also being actively explored. The film, according to the statement, will also be screened at various intertiol film festivals, besides filizing the theatrical release date of the film for sometime during the last quarter of this calendar year.

Priyanka Chopra says, “We at Purple Pebble Pictures, along with our partners Easterly Entertainment, are committed to ensuring that the film gets the widest of audience across India and around the world. Even though this is a small-budget Assamese film, we intend to infuse good amount of resources for domestic, tiol and intertiol promotions. And I will be persolly involved in promoting this film.”

Dr. Madhu Chopra, Priyanka’s mother, says, “Our regiol cinema may be made in small budgets, but the cost of widespread promotion and distribution remains the same as any other mainstream tiol film. To fully realize the potential of a good regiol film, it requires much more effort and resources than just making of the film. And a powerful film like Bhoga Khirikee by respected Jahnu Barua deserves all efforts and avenues, and we are committed to spare no efforts or resources, so that the film reaches a global audience.”

Shahab Alam adds: “I’m very glad to partner with Priyanka, as she really wishes to take Assam to the world through Assamese cinema. She has already shown her commitment towards promoting regiol cinema, through the films she has produced in other regiol languages.”

“Assamese cinemas, like most of the other regiol cinema in India, usually fall-back due to lack of good promotion and avenues of distribution. In today’s age of common access to widespread information on a global scale, it requires a tremendous amount of resources and efforts to cover the entire network of audience spread across the country and the world, and lacking which good cinema in regiol languages often fail to reach their potential audience beyond their State. We intend to combine our strengths and influence to make sure that Bhoga Khirikee is well positioned around the world and the potential audience is well aware of this forthcoming Jahnu Barua film.”
