Pro-ILP pressure groups to hold discussion with DCs soon

SHILLONG, April 20: The pro-ILP pressure groups will soon hold meetings with other Deputy Commissioners in the state to discuss on the implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016 as the government has yet to notify or given instructions to the respective DCs of different district to go ahead in executing the implementation process.

In a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills district, Peter S. Dkhar, on Thursday the pressure group had also sought the current status of the constitution of the district task force in Meghalaya.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting with the DC, former KSU president and present advisor of the Union, Daniel Khryiem said, “We are disappointed to know from the DC that the government since passing the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Bill on September last year till date has yet to notify or instruct all the DCs to proceed in implementing the Act or to frame rules for the act so that the district task force which is aimed at checking influx can be constituted.”

He said by constituting the district task force in various district it will further keep a check on the entry of people coming from outside into Meghalaya.

Khyriem informed that the pro ILP group will meet the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi district on April 21, and later hold discussions with other DCs on the subject matter.

“After holding discussions with all the DCs in the district concerning the matter, then only we will take a fil decision on how to go about things regarding the issue,” he said.

Another leader, informed that the DC had cited the ibility in constituting the district task force is due to the delay in framing the rules of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016.
