Probe Religious Funding From Abroad: BJP Assam Pradesh President Ranjit Kumar Das

GUWAHATI: BJP Assam Pradesh president Ranjit Kumar Das has said that in the event of religious institutions receiving funds from abroad it should come under the investigation of the police.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ranjit Kumar Das said this in the wake of the police arresting the principal of an Arabic college from Howli in Barpeta district on Saturday night. Principal of Jamia Milia Islamia Salfia Arabic College Nurul Hussain Naqvi of Itarvita Helena Pam Gaon under Howli police station was arrested by the police for receiving funds through Hawala from Kuwait.

Thanking the police for the arrest, Ranjit Kumar Das said that all such funds coming to religious institutions from outside India should come under police investigation for necessary action.

Lauding the Assam Police for, what he said, the arrest of the accused of the grenade blast in Guwahati barely within eight hours, Dass said: “Such a prompt action on the part of the State police salvaged its pride that had been lost during the Congress regime.”
