Prof Sharat Mahanta memorial lecture held

Joysagar, June 19: Renowned educationist, former member of Assam Human Rights Commission and lecturer of Joysagar College, Sharat Mahanta’s fourth annual memorial lecture was held in Sivasagar on Sunday. The lecture was organized by the Sharat Mahanta Memorial Trust in association with Sivasagar Press Club in the Yuba Dol auditorium of Sivasagar town. The key lecture was delivered by the former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha and educationist Dr gen Saikia on ‘tiolism and Regiolism’,  where Dr. Saikia focused on the importance of true democratic values for proper functioning of a large tion which was made with the participation of other ethnic-linguistic tions. Dr Saikia also revealed that regiolism was a sense with local look while tiolism had a broad look but both had importance. Earlier in the opening ceremony, the earthen lamp was lit by the wife of Sharat Mahanta. In the lecture session, Sivasagar DC rayan Konwar, Superintendent of Police SK Sonowal, Prof. SJ Mahanta, Dr. Utpal Dutta, Dr. S. Mahanta and many other dignitaries were present. They also threw light on the life and works of Sharat Mahanta.
