GAURISAGAR, August 3 : Associated Gramya Unyan Society (AGUS), a Sivasagar based NGO, organized a programme for farmers on Joint Liability Group (JLG) concept at Salaguri under Gaurisagar development block on Wednesday, sponsored by tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD).
In the function Lakheswar Mahanta, DDM, BARD, Sivasagar, Jayanta Phukan, Branch Mager, UBI, mti Branch, Rajib Dutta, publicity secretary of NGO Krishak Nyas and Nitul Bailung Baruah, Assistant Mager, Assam Grameen Vikas Bank, Joysagar Branch took part as resource persons. In his speech Rajib Dutta rrated briefly the process of JLG formation and the difference between SHG and JLG. Addressing the gathering, Jayanta Phukan spoke briefly about the lending system of JLG and their liabilities. He also briefed about various short and long term loans and insurance policies like Pradhan Mantir Bima Surakshya Yoja (PMBSY), Pradhan Montir Jibon Jyoti Bima Yoja (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yoja (APY) and urged the farmers to take these opportunities.
In the meeting DDM, Lakheswar Mahanta spoked about the norms of JLG formation. Nitul Bailung Baruah emphasized the role of JLG in livelihood development of the farmers through proper credit linkage. In the function AGV Bank Joysagar Branch and UBI, mti Branch provided loan sanction letters to a total of 10 SHGs and JLGs.
