Programme on biodiversity conservation

Itagar, Aug 21: An awareness programme on technology and conservation of Fish Biodiversity and River Ranching was organized on Saturday at Remi River near Mirem and Miglung villages under Bilat circle in East Siang district of Aruchal Pradesh. A total of 25000 numbers of fingerlings were released in the river by Pasighat West MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries Tatung Jamoh. While speaking on the occasion, Jamoh appealed to all the participants to stop indiscrimite method of fishing like poisoning and electrocution so as to prevent further decline of indigenous fish species in the tural water bodies. He rrated the participants about the importance of fisheries from the economic point of view.
Jamoh further added that fish farming will become a major source of livelihood for the rural populace in future. DFDO, Pasighat Obuk Mize highlighted the ill effects of indiscrimite fishing and urged all to refrain from such irresponsible fishing.
