Programme on Swatch Bharat Abhiyan

SILCHAR, Nov 7: Don Bosco School, Silchar, organized Swach Bharat Abhiyan on ISBT Ramgar and surrounding areas of the town today. Hundreds of schools students along with their teachers took part in the campaign.  The drive began at around 10:30 in the morning and continued till 1 pm in the afternoon. The campaign was organized to spread the message of cleaner India. It should be mentioned here that the Swach Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the central government on October 2, the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, this year for a cleaner, healthier and beautiful India.

  The team was led by Rev. Father Nelson Joseph, the principal of the esteemed academic establishment, who actively took part in the campaign. Prior to the cleanliness drive, a programme was held in the school premises in which the school children along with the school teachers and magement took an oath to spread, maintain and propagate the idea of a cleaner and healthier India. Indrani Laskar, assistant commissioner, was the chief-guest on the occasion.

  Speaking on the occasion, Indrani Laskar said the idea of cleanliness should be inculcated as a daily habit to children by their parents and guardians from a young age. It should not just be followed only on special occasions but in every activity take they take part in. Rev. Father Joseph Nelson said a cleaner Silchar is the finest manner through which we can pay our respects and gratitude to the father of the tion. He further said that the students, so young and yet so talented in whatever they do, are the ambassadors of change. They are the torch bearers of cleaner, healthier and developed India.
