Prohibit smoking at Iewduh: Teilinia Thangkhiew

SHILLONG, June 21: A motion was moved on the need for the Executive Committee to urge the Hima Mylliem to prohibit smoking at Iewduh (Bara Bazaar) by HSPDP MDC Mylliem, Teilinia Thangkhiew on the second day of the KHADC summer session. In this connection, Hadrian Lyngdoh EM in-charge Market said that it is up to the smokers to give up smoking in public places. It may be mentioned that through the landmark tion public wide legislation, smoking in public places was prohibited from October 2, 2008 under the Prohibition of Smoking in Public Places Rules, 2008 and Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COTPA).
