Prohibition on arms

SHILLONG, Feb 3: The District Magistrate, Ri-Bhoi District, has imposed Section 144 Cr PC prohibiting the carrying of arms and other lethal weapons by members of the public. This has been done in view that carrying of arms and other lethal weapons and any other activities by some members of the public is likely to lead to the commission of mischief, intimidation, threat and arbitrary curtailment of the liberty of an individual to exercise his/her right of franchise.
