Prohibitory orders clamped after sighting of goons around Umling check gate

Shillong, Aug 26: The Ri Bhoi District Magistrate has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting all uuthorized  persons/middlemen along with their private vehicles from stationing/loitering in and around the Umling Integrated Checkgate.
Diversion of coal trucks away from the desigted route - tiol Highway-40 - shall be deemed illegal and any violators shall be prosecuted under the relevant section of the law, the order said.
The order has been issued after certain unscrupulous elements manifesting as middlemen were found loitering and operating in and around the Umling Integrated Checkgate with an ulterior motive of diverting the ongoing traffic of coal laden trucks from the Integrated Check gate and thereby causing huge revenue loss to the Government.
Moreover, the District Magistrate has also promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of coal laden trucks through Nongpoh - Umden Road, Umling - Lailad Road,  Lailad - 20th Mer Road, Umsning - Jagi Road, and Nongpoh - rtiang Road.
The order has been issued in view that coal laden trucks illegally plying through different routes avoiding the Umling Integrated Checkgate.
Further the District Magistrate has prohibited construction and operation of makeshift stalls all along the tiol Highway 40 for illicit stockpiling as well as sale of coal.
