Prohibitory orders in Goalpara

Goalpara, January 16: Apprehending serious breach of public peace and tranquility during the celebration of Republic Day and in view of organizations calling ‘customary’ bandhs, Section 144 of CrPC has been promulgated in Goalpara district with immediate effect. In a press release, District Magistrate (DM) JVN Subramanyam,  vide order No.GMG_2/96/pt/130 and exercising the power conferred  upon him under Section 144 Cr PC, has promulgated various prohibitory orders. Under the circumstances,  assembly of more than five persons other than for Republic Day purpose , carrying of fire arms, lethal weapons, collecting forceful dotions from vehicles, wearing combat dresses, organizing rally or processions , use of loud speakers other than in religious places, shouting slogans inciting commul or ethnic violence have been restricted. Restrictions with some exemptions are also there for pillion riders. The prohibitory orders will remain in operation until further order.
