Prominent educationist and social activist passes away

DIBRUGARH, March 1: Former Principal of Dibrugarh Hanuman Bux Surujmal Kanoi College, president of Dibrugarh Art Players Society, prominent educationist and social activist, Prof Kalyan Kumar Baruah passed away early Sunday morning. He was 88.

Baruah is survived by his wife, two sons and their respective families. As the news of his demise spread in the town, a large number of people from all walks of life thronged his residence to pay their tributes to the departed soul.

His death was widely condoled by various socio-cultural organizations with whom he was closely associated with in general and faculty members , employees, staff , students of DHSK College, all office bearers, members of Dibrugarh Art Players, members of Dibru Xahitya Xabha, Dibrugarh District Sports Association, Sanmmilita Muslim Xamaj, Jeoti Moral Sangha  and Milan Jyoti Sangha in particular. The body of Prof Kalyan Kumar Baruah was initially carried to DHSK College and later to the DAP premises where a large number of people paid their last respects. His last rites were performed at the Chowkidinghi cremation ground in the presence of a large number of people.
