'Protect Thembang village to woo tourists'

Itanagar April 21: The three-day maiden Thembang Heritage Festival concluded on Saturday in the picturesque Thembang village in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, which has been enlisted as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Addressing the closing ceremony, PHED, WS and Economics Parliamentary Secretary Kumsi Sidisow and former minister D K Thongdok recalled the historic relevance of the fortified Dzong that was built by using traditional technology of the region. 
Arunachal Pradesh  boasts of two such sites, including Zero Valley, they said, and exhorted he villagers to make all possible efforts to protect and preserve to attract tourists and researchers from within and outside the State.
The event was organized at the initiative of Thembang ZPM Jam Tsering Dirkhipa and Lama Tsering Khochilu in collaboration with the research department and supported by the Tourism department and Health and Family Welfare Parliamentary Secretary-cum-Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering with Arunachal Observer as media partner. 
Traditional sports and cultural programme by a team from Bhutan and Kalaktang troupe added beauty to the event.
