Protection and preservation of forests underscored

Haflong, July 6: As part of celebration of 68th Va Mahotsava week, the Dima Hasao Forest West Division  organized a meeting-cum-prize distribution ceremony at the District Library Auditorium on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Chief Conservator of Forest, M N Duarah, Divisiol Forest Officer, West Division, Rajib Barua and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, all the speakers stressed upon the importance of protection and preservation of forests for the survival of human beings. They also said that the district of Dima Hasao had highest density of forest in the State as the people were aware of the importance of protecting the environment.

Students of Sound Wave Music School performed a self-composed song based on conservation of forest as well as the environment, while CCF Duarah in his speech welcomed the guests and the students who participated in the art and essay writing competition organized by the Forest department. The students from Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawhar vodaya Vidyalaya who participated in the competition were awarded with prizes. Earlier, all the guests were felicitated with the traditiol Dimasa gamosa by the officials of the  Forest department.
