Protest against attack on SC/ST

GAON, April 9: In connection with the serial attacks on Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes on April 2 by police and other paramilitary forces in various BJP-led States all over India, the gaon district congress unit on Monday staged sit-in fast in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of gaon for eight hours.

 The hunger strike concluded at 4 pm. Veteran columnist and literary maestro of Assamese folk culture, Dr ren Kalita and professor Dr Khageswar Bhuyan offered cups of juice to the agitators and broke their fast. Former ministers Rokibul Hussain and Gautam Bora, former MLA Dr Durlav Chamua and other Congress leaders were present at the agitation site.

Biswath: The Biswath District Congress Committee observed fast on Monday in front of the Congress office here along with the rest of the country. The party protested the alleged growing incidents of torture on the Dalit communities in the country. District president Dilip Kumar Baruah and other leaders were present in the protest.
