Protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016

A CORRESPONDENT

GOLAGHAT, July 17: The activists of All Assam Tea & Ex-Tea Tribe Jolha Association of Golaghat district unit staged protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The protesters raised various slogans against the Central Government as well as the Sarbananda Sonowal government. The organization strongly slammed both governments for the anti-Assam policy to settle illegal Hindu migrants by amending the citizenship act.

They submitted a memorandum to the Joint Parliamentary Committee through the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat expressing strong resentment against the proposed bill. They clearly pointed out that no illegal migrant who entered Assam after March 25, 1971, would be allowed to stay in Assam.
