Protest against ‘exploitation’ by Amguri TE authority

GAURISAGAR, Feb 27: Along with the rest of the State, the labourers of  nine tea estates of  Amguri in Sivasagar district  on Tuesday strongly protested  against alleged exploitation by the authority of Amguri Tea Estate. The protest was called by Asom Chah  Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS). The  labourers of nine tea estates of Amguri assembled at Amguri TE and strongly protested against long-time exploitation by TE authority shouting various slogans. They demanded increase of their daily wages, increase of Sub Employee Travelling Allowance (TA) from Rs 1,500 to Rs 6,000 and increase of house rent (HR) to Rs 500 per month.  The protest programme was led by Bitupon Keot, organizing secretary, ACMS, zira Branch, Biswath Pradhan and Tarun Tasa, president and secretary respectively, ACMS, Haluwating Primary group.
