Protest against negligence of Manipur University

IMPHAL February 25: The students of the Boys’ hostel No 4 burned some beds in front of the hostel last evening by way of protesting against the negligence of the Manipur University authority. They said that there is no mess service in the hostel. The inmates of the hostel have to walk to the Boys’ hostel No. 3 to take meal. They have been requesting the authority to make separate arrangements for them. However, no positive response has been received yet. The others said that the university students had also protested by torching university properties when police raided some hostels. It is said that the raids were conducted without the permission and knowledge of the university authority. On several occasions, the students have been agitating on many issues for which the authority had no explation.
