Donkamokam, Sept 20: On Wednesday evening in Donkamokam town in West Karbi Anglong district, activists of UKSA and 24 organizations of Karbi Anglong held a torchlight rally in protest against the failure of the Assam Government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) regarding publishing of fresh and separate electoral roll for the indigenous community of the district. The rally also marked one year completion of the first memorandum submission to the government by the organization. “This is total negligence to the indigenous tribals of the hills district and the government’s motive is to wipe out tribal people like us,” said leader of the group, Klirdap Terang Dili. “If our demands are not met soon, we will resort to more rigorous democratic movement in the coming days,” Dili added.
