Protest against poor condition of historic Borphukan Ali Road

DEMOW, Nov 15: The historic Borphukan Ali Road which connects Khowang is in a pathetic condition due to which on Tuesday, many organizations as well as the local people blocked the roads for two hours and protested. The activists of Brihattar Asomiya Yuba Mancha (BAYM), Demow Town Committee, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), Dhemachi Regiol Committee and All Assam Sanghyalaghu (Minority) Students’ Union along with the local people on Tuesday blocked the historic Borphukan Ali Road for two hours and they shouted various slogans against the State Government, PWD and Gannon Dunkerley Co. Ltd (GDCL) Company.

The road is in a pathetic condition since long time and on October 31, the locals urged the Gannon Dunkerley Co. Ltd (GDCL) Company to repair the road but it did not show any kind of interest. The people of Dekhari, Bezapathar, Rangragia, Dhemachi, Pathalibam, Sensuapukhuri and other villages travel through this road and face serious problems. The Gannon Dunkerley Co. Ltd (GDCL) Company in Dekhari is constructing the four-lane road. The activists later submitted a memorandum to the Demow Circle Officer on Tuesday where they demanded immediate repair of this road at the earliest.
