A Correspondent

Kaziranga, June 19: Observing the alarming rate of rape cases in the State and in the country, under the leadership of Soneswar Narah and Pranab, the Jeepal Krishak and Shramik Sangha, local organizations and hundreds of local people of Mohuramukh in Bokakhat subdivision protested at Bortal, Mohuramukh on Monday against the three rape cases and demanded immediate arrest and punishment for the rapists. Soneswar Narah, advisor of Jeepal Krishak and Shramik Sangha, alleged that all the three rape victims in Bokakhat subdivision belonged to SC and ST and the culprits had not been nabbed.

“We have always been neglected by the government and the administration but we cannot remain as silent spectators after the brutal rapes and murders in our subdivision,” Narah said. The protesters urged the local MLA and the administration to take up necessary measures against this rape culture and demanded death penalty for the culprits who allegedly raped a girl and later killed her.
