Protest in Bihar against Shahabuddin's release

Pat, Sept 15: The BJP-led tiol Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday staged protests across Bihar against the release of former Rashtriya Jata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin. “NDA leaders and workers have staged dhars at all district headquarters across the state to protest against the release of Shahabuddin,” Bharatiya Jata Party state president Mangal Pandey said.

Pandey said that BJP and its allies will continue to raise this issue to expose the state government’s double standards on rule of law. “We will also approach President Prab Mukherjee in this matter soon,” he said.

Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told the media that the NDA will stage a massive protest in Siwan on Friday against Shahabuddin’s release. Modi has demanded to Shahabuddin back to jail. The NDA on Wednesday staged a day-long protest in Pat.

Shahabuddin was granted bail by the Pat High Court on September 10 in a case involving the murder of a witness in the killing of two brothers in Siwan. (IANS)
