Protest in Golaghat over land dispute

Golaghat, Dec 8: The activists of Golaghat District Students’ Union today staged demonstration here over police ‘atrocities’ on senior jourlist Keshab Saikia.

Golaghat police last night took Saikia to police station over land dispute with a family.

Two brothers Manoj Gupta and Sanjay Gupta, who filed a complaint at Golaghat PS, have claimed that Saikia allegedly physically abused them over the dispute. Saikia as well as Golaghat AASU and other organizations as well rubbished the allegations and stated that Hazarika has been framed.

Last night AASU protested at Bezbaruah Point in Golaghat by burning tyres and today held a sit-in-demonstration near DC office. On the other hand, Gupta brothers also submitted a memorandum to DC seeking justice.
